There is nothing more boring than reading a ton of backstory crammed into scene after scene in a book. At least for me, now don't get me wrong, I'm interested in the character's motives, why she might hate men in general. Or why he hates women, but there's a right way and a wrong way to do the backstory.
We all have an inner critic!
It's that individual who is constantly saying things like, "That's terrible writing, why don't you just give up?" or "You think you're a writer? That's an awful story line, no one is going to read this!" or "You think you can be a bestseller, or make money from your writing, not if you keep writing this drivel!"
