New Year’s resolutions and FREE Greyscale Coloring: Pages What a Knockout of a Combination!

#LallaGatta
In my New Year’s resolutions for 2017, having fun is at the top of my list!

Too many bad things happen every day all around the world, and I’ve lain many a nights wishing I could do something, anything to help make the world a better place. But the terrible truth is that I can’t. I have no power to change the hate and violence that are becoming second nature to the world as a whole.

The only power I do have is to improve the lives I enter in contact with, which is why I want to be more light-hearted and joyous in spite of everything that’s going on. It’s necessary for my survival, otherwise the sheer weight of all the bad things would crush me, and that would help no one, least of all me.

This is also why I’d like to kick off the New Year with a bang and offer my readers this brand new coloring page in the greyscale: the kitten in the Christmas tree!

Do you know what grayscale coloring is all about? Have you seen the beautiful new grayscale coloring books and pages that are coming out now?

I have, and I love them, especially getting to see the final colored versions, they remind me of an old time photograph that has been tinted. However, as much as I love grayscale coloring pages, I had one teensy problem, I couldn't figure out the best way to color one. And like me, you probably couldn’t either LOL

So, after much trial and error, and some research here is the best way to color a grayscale coloring page.

  • Colored pencils
  • A grayscale coloring page

Step 1: Choose a color palette. I find that choosing a color palette helps me get an idea of the final version of my grayscale coloring page. And what it will look like. Not sure how to choose a color palette?
Believe it or not, if you visit colorexplorer.com or other color palette websites, they will help you choose one!

Step 2: Choose colored pencils that match your color palette colors as closely as possible.

Step 3: Choose a place to start coloring. The nice thing about grayscale coloring pages is that most of the shading is already there for you. All you have to do is begin to color over the shading. In most cases, the shading will show through your colored pencil.

Step 4: In darker places, color more darkly, and in spots that are more lightly shaded, don't press as hard and just leave a light coating of color.

Tip 1: With dark grayscale coloring pages, as mentioned above most, if not all the shading is done for you. But not all grayscale-coloring pages are dark. Some are light. With light grayscale coloring pages, more of the shading is left up to the colorist. In this case, you may want to choose a light, medium and dark shade of your particular color and then begin by using the light colored pencil for a bit of the selected item, and then move on to medium and dark. This will help to bring out what shading there is in a light grayscale coloring page.

Tip 2: If you really want to take your coloring to the next level consider using a bit of petroleum jelly on your pencil tip or a q-tip to spread the color on your grayscale coloring page. It gives the color a brighter more even tone and can make your adult coloring pages really look like a piece of art.

I hope you enjoyed this grayscale coloring page tutorial! Just click on the images to download my brand new grayscale adult coloring page of the kitten in the Christmas tree and of my avatar, the beautiful cat girl.

Or simply click HERE if you prefer.

Either way, in the download file there is both a dark and light grayscale version of the cat girl and a dark grayscale version  of the Christmas Cat, so you can practice your technique.

But that’s not all!

Included in the file, I’ve also thrown in a regular adult coloring page, which you are free to color as you like and that’s always about my avatar shown below, the original along with the fill in page.

These are my gift to you on this New Year 2017, a special thank you for being loyal readers and subscribers!

So click HERE or click on either of the pictures, just as long as you enjoy!

Oh, and please, if you color these, I would love to see your final version, so don't hesitate to send me a scan or photo of your final pieces!
