Laura short bio
Born in Rome, Italy, I am Italian and now live in Sitges near Barcelona, Spain. I am also the author of 30+ books in the very particular and unique genre of Erotic Romance with an Edge. I have been traveling the globe since age five and have no intention of quitting. After having been an avid reader all my life, I decided at age forty to write my own stories, and they had to be about sex, given the way it affects human and social relationships, inevitably changing them despite our beliefs to the contrary. After all, sex is the foundation of our society, the root of many prejudices and the basis of its dual nature. But sometimes, individuals can’t relate to these conventions, so I analyze and challenge them, indicating alternative lifestyles that people could pursue.
I write both in Italian and English, mostly fiction of various genres, from dark fantasy erotica to mysteries up to everyday ordinary life stories. Among others, they include the Virtus Saga books, all eight of them, not to mention the Soulmate and ReScue Series, along with several horror novels and a few historical ones, too. eXtasy Books is one of my premier publishers specializing in erotic literature. If you’ve never read anything of mine and would now care for a taste, you can download all my novels’ first chapters in PDF by clicking on the “Read First Chapter” icon in my books’ web pages or download the short story I’m Coming.
I cannot begin to recite what I don't like about Korian: The Manian's Spear by Giorgio Garofalo. An evident lack of imagination far too reminiscent of many other tales ranks high on my list, further worsened by a plethora of undeveloped characters, of repeated words, and of fragmentations in the writing style.
I'm amazed because series tend to bore me after a while.
Not this one!
This one is always fresh and entertaining, both as a mystery and as the tale of a totally likable couple. But most amazing for me is that Falco and Helena Justina's relationship is so similar to mine with my husband. And that's something no other series has ever achieved and thus keeps me hooked to every book.
I'm a big fan of Lindsay Davis, and I've read all her Falco series, loving every single book.
But Flavia Albia is another story.
This book lacks all of Falco's wit and irony. It lacks the, warmth and the thoroughly enjoyable relationships between lovable characters.
This book is dark, heavy and repetitive at times. Where Falco doesn't take anythin seriously, Flavia Albia takes herself way too seriously. She plays it like she's the best informer, but in fact she makes so many blunders that she ought to consider a carreer change.
The plot was so predictable that I knew from Chapter One who had done it, something I never managed with any of the Falco's investigations.
And I particularly didn't like discovering that the author is biased toward women investigators. The difference between how she treats Marcus Didius Falco and Flavia Albia leaves me wondering whether she's a misogynist at heart.
For sure, I won't be reading any more of this series.
